How to give good feedback

back to help

We understand that giving good site feedback is essential to help in the further development and progress of a site. Because of this, we have put together a small guide to help the users through the tests.

The ratings

When providing rating on a criteria for a website, think of the rating in the following sense:
1) awful 2) poor 3) average 4) good 5) amazing

Each user have their own ideas of what makes a good / bad website so the rating is entirely down to you.

The feedback notes

This is the most important aspect of the testing process. The more notes you leave the better for the owner of the website. Be descriptive in your feedback.

Bad feedback: "Your site looks horrid"

Good feedback: "Your navigation menu is difficult to see and the light grey text on the white background could perhaps be changed to something that makes the text more readable"

There are no rules for how you provide your feedback. You can write as much as you want and we encourage users to write as much as possible.

Too much vinegar

Feel free to provide positive remarks as well. Avoid straying from descriptive feedback however. A comment saying "I like your website" is not going to help the author of the website, how ever a comment like "Your layout is really well planned and I like the design of the logo" is giving the user some useful information here. The author now knows that the layout is good and don't have to worry about that (or the logo).
